So apparently Microsoft and McDonalds have this advanced agreement with the Zune to make it easy to download music to your Zune while your eating your meal at McDonalds. Well tonight I found myself at that very same restaurant establishment with a little bit of time to download some music so I decided to test it out.
First let me say that this particular McDonalds was a shamble, sure it was later in the evening but there was more than a long wait for the food with noone there, they had old Star Wars Happy Meal toys for my kid who wanted Lego Batman and despite the fact they have a playhouse the place was a mess. Now moving on, lets try and download some music.
Well since there was such a wait for the food and the kids don't care about the condition of the playhouse there was time to download some tunes.
I got connected to the free Wi-Fi pretty quick on the first try which was a nice change so I decided to download a quick song, somehow I came across Herbie Hancocks Rockit so I added it to the cart and it started downloading. With that going well I came across Jessica Simpsons new album and despite my better judgement I hit download for the whole album.
My first attempt at downloading from the marketplace right from the Zune was at home when I downloaded the new Buckcherry album, that was pretty darn quick. Maybe becuase I wasn't very near the Wi-Fi access point the downloading at McDonalds was very slow. It was a good thing we had some time to spare becuase it took quite a while to download.
One thing I don't like about this new Wi-Fi marketplace is that the Zune battery doesnt seem to be designed to draw like this for very long. Other than that things went well, as in it didnt fail and I got my new CD for the car ride home.
Yes I listened to it in the car on the way home and its now on my Zune card probably.
With the Zune Pass in hand I am enjoying a plethora of music like I never thought I would. As for McDonalds, well now I can say I've tried it and thats about it, a one time thing. I won't be headed to McDonalds regularly to download music, I'll take my food to go.
